Crafting Colourful Blooms with Wild Minds
This month, our friends from Wild Minds, who usually lead our popular chair exercise classes, brought something a little different – a wonderfully engaging craft session. Residents got creative making beautiful tissue paper flowers in bright, cheerful colours. The activity sparked smiles and the handmade blooms are now proudly displayed around the home, bringing a splash of spring indoors.
Musical Moments That Moved Us
April brought a brilliant lineup of musical talent to Silver Oaks. We were treated to Xander the violinist, who filled the home with calming classical tunes. Howard the guitarist strummed familiar songs that had everyone tapping their toes. Karl the singer charmed us with his rich vocals, while Hazel and her accordion brought something delightfully different to the mix. One of the highlights was our singalong session with the Memory Lane Duo, which had residents singing, clapping, and reminiscing.
Meet Claire from Our Care Team
We continue our "Meet the Team" series, where you get to know more about the amazing staff who make Silver Oaks feel like home. This month we learn about Claire, one of our dedicated Carers who has been with us for six years. Her warmth and compassion are truly appreciated by both residents and colleagues alike. Read more about Claire here.
Of course, residents also enjoyed our much-loved regular activities this April, including Friday Night Bingo, Midweek Movie Nights, and Coffee Shop Tuesdays, where good conversation and sweet treats were in full supply.
As always, a big thank you to everyone who supports us! If you have any questions or suggestions about activities, please don’t hesitate to speak with Kevin.

A day in life of a carer at Silver Oaks is never easy but is always rewarding. Our carers put our residents’ health and happiness at the forefront of their working day. Two days working at our boutique care home are never the same.
We spoke to our carers about what their life is like working at Silver Oaks, and what their day looks like from the minute they begin, to the second they finish up for the night.
At Silver Oaks, we understand that our boutique, care home is our residents’ home too and we make every effort to ensure your loved ones are looked after and made to feel at home.
This is especially important during the winter season, when the temperature drops and the environment outside gets a lot harsher.
There are a lot of different types of care available, and even more kinds of care homes, all specialising in varied aspects of responsibilities and attention.
One type of care home that can be hugely beneficial to residents is the boutique care home. different from other care homes, like nursing and residential, simply because it’s smaller and provides a more personalised environment. But why should you consider a boutique care home for your loved one and what benefits do they have over the other types of care available.
Everyone is welcome to join us in our beautiful garden on Saturday 4th August. There will be live entertainment, including a theatre production, local craft stalls, games, hot food, raffle, tombola, drinks and delicious homemade cakes. We will be collecting for a chosen charity TBC.
