We recently welcomed a very popular guest to the home, a playful puppy belonging to one of our resident’s daughters. The little pup brought a wonderful energy and fun to the day, happily trotting from lap to lap. Our residents always enjoy the chance to spend time with animals. These kinds of moments not only brighten the afternoon but also help create new opportunities for reminiscing and connection. We look forward to welcoming our four-legged visitor back soon!
Sometimes the best afternoons are the simplest ones and a trip to the local pub always proves to be a favourite. Recently, a group of residents headed out for drinks and a chance to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. There was plenty of laughter and lots of lively chats over a pint. Outings like this are more than just a change of scenery; they offer residents the chance to stay connected to the wider community and enjoy the familiar traditions of pub life. It was a relaxed and sociable afternoon that everyone agreed should become a regular part of our calendar.
We are delighted to share that our care home has once again been recognised with another five-star review. Feedback like this means so much to our entire team, as it reflects the commitment and care that go into everyday life here. Families often comment on the welcoming atmosphere, the attentive support and the way their loved ones feel at ease in our home. Every positive review reminds us why we do what we do and motivates us to keep striving to provide the highest standard of care. We’d like to thank our staff for their dedication and our families for their trust and kind words.
On a sunny afternoon, our dining room was transformed into a mini ice cream parlour as residents created their very own sundaes. With bowls filled with ice cream, the fun really began as everyone added their favourite toppings, from whipped cream and chocolate sauce to sprinkles and fruit. The activity was about much more than just enjoying a sweet treat, it was a chance for residents to get creative, share stories about favourite desserts from the past and indulge in something delicious.
We also recently held a lively garden party which, although far too busy for us to capture in photos, was a fantastic success. With plenty of fun and community spirit, the event raised an impressive £230 through our tombola and raffle. The funds will be shared between our residents’ fund and a donation in honour of Kevin, supporting the local community dialysis team in their fundraising for a new dialysis caravan.

At Silver Oaks, we believe in making dreams come true, no matter how big or small. For our cherished resident, Kath, one heartfelt wish had lingered in her heart for decades: to locate her mother’s grave. What began as a distant hope turned into a heartwarming journey of discovery, perseverance, and community.
Whether you’re choosing a care home for yourself, or you’re a relative wanting to help your loved one find the perfect place, there are a lot of factors to consider.
You want to find the best possible care home for you or your loved one to reside in, so here’s what you should be looking for when searching for a good care home...
A day in life of a carer at Silver Oaks is never easy but is always rewarding. Our carers put our residents’ health and happiness at the forefront of their working day. Two days working at our boutique care home are never the same.
We spoke to our carers about what their life is like working at Silver Oaks, and what their day looks like from the minute they begin, to the second they finish up for the night.
At Silver Oaks, we understand that our boutique, care home is our residents’ home too and we make every effort to ensure your loved ones are looked after and made to feel at home.
This is especially important during the winter season, when the temperature drops and the environment outside gets a lot harsher.
There are a lot of different types of care available, and even more kinds of care homes, all specialising in varied aspects of responsibilities and attention.
One type of care home that can be hugely beneficial to residents is the boutique care home. different from other care homes, like nursing and residential, simply because it’s smaller and provides a more personalised environment. But why should you consider a boutique care home for your loved one and what benefits do they have over the other types of care available.
Everyone is welcome to join us in our beautiful garden on Saturday 4th August. There will be live entertainment, including a theatre production, local craft stalls, games, hot food, raffle, tombola, drinks and delicious homemade cakes. We will be collecting for a chosen charity TBC.
