As summer settles in, we've been making the most of longer days and brighter weather with a variety of gentle and enjoyable activities for our residents. Throughout June, residents enjoyed a mix of creative, social, and relaxing activities.
Earlier this month, residents gathered for a baking session that filled the home with the comforting aroma of chocolate cookies. Measuring, mixing and shaping the dough offered a chance for light conversation. Once baked, the cookies made a lovely treat to enjoy with afternoon tea.
Another peaceful afternoon was spent enjoying a relaxed arts and crafts session. With pencils, colouring pens and a quiet atmosphere, residents focused on their artwork at their own pace. The activity offered a calm, creative outlet and many took quiet satisfaction in seeing their pieces take shape.
We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day that was perfect for getting outside. Residents spent time in the garden enjoying the warm weather and refreshing drinks. The simple act of sitting in the sun and enjoying the surroundings brought a real sense of calm and contentment.
To mark World Beatles Day, we welcomed back Dave, a much-loved musician who performed a selection of Beatles favourites on his guitar. Residents joined in with familiar lyrics and the familiar tunes brought plenty of smiles. It was a lovely afternoon of music.
We’re excited for what July has in store! Residents can look forward to lively bingo sessions, a pub-themed afternoon complete with a quiz, visits from our regular musical guests and a fun hands-on activity making their very own ice cream - The perfect way to cool down on these warmer days.
April was a vibrant and musical month here at Silver Oaks! As spring brought new life outside, our home was full of energy, creativity, and music. We were delighted to celebrate three residents' birthdays this month, each marked with cake, music, and time spent with friends and loved ones. Thank you to everyone who helped make each celebration special. It’s always a joy to honour our residents and make their day as memorable as possible.

At Silver Oaks, we believe in making dreams come true, no matter how big or small. For our cherished resident, Kath, one heartfelt wish had lingered in her heart for decades: to locate her mother’s grave. What began as a distant hope turned into a heartwarming journey of discovery, perseverance, and community.

A day in life of a carer at Silver Oaks is never easy but is always rewarding. Our carers put our residents’ health and happiness at the forefront of their working day. Two days working at our boutique care home are never the same.
We spoke to our carers about what their life is like working at Silver Oaks, and what their day looks like from the minute they begin, to the second they finish up for the night.
At Silver Oaks, we understand that our boutique, care home is our residents’ home too and we make every effort to ensure your loved ones are looked after and made to feel at home.
This is especially important during the winter season, when the temperature drops and the environment outside gets a lot harsher.
There are a lot of different types of care available, and even more kinds of care homes, all specialising in varied aspects of responsibilities and attention.
One type of care home that can be hugely beneficial to residents is the boutique care home. different from other care homes, like nursing and residential, simply because it’s smaller and provides a more personalised environment. But why should you consider a boutique care home for your loved one and what benefits do they have over the other types of care available.
