This month, we were pleased to recognise Gemma as the winner of our Peer Recognition Award. Gemma was presented with flowers and a box of Thorntons chocolates as a small thank you for her contribution to the home.
Her recognition reflects the consistent support she provides to both residents and colleagues. The colleague recognition scheme continues to be a simple but important way of acknowledging the day-to-day efforts that help keep everything running smoothly.

Residents also made the most of the brighter weather with a trip out to Sunnyside Garden Centre. It was a welcome change of routine, giving everyone the chance to spend time outside the home, browse the plants, and pick up a few items. The visit was rounded off with cake and coffee, which is always well received.
Outings like this remain an important part of life at Silver Oaks, offering both a social experience and a connection to the local area. Thanks to Gems Taxi for their support with transport.

He received a number of gifts, including a copy of The Leicester City Story and residents gathered to enjoy cupcakes together. The residenst love celebrating occasions - they are always a nice way to bring people together and recognise individuals within the home.

One of the standout moments this month was a visit from Peach the pony. The visit offered something a little different from the usual routine and was well received by residents. Many took the opportunity to spend time petting Peach and offering carrot treats, while she calmly took in all the attention.
It was a simple activity, but one that the residents clearly enjoyed.

Residents also enjoyed another visit from Karl, who regularly comes into the home to entertain with live music and singing. His sessions are always popular, with many residents joining in with the songs, clapping along, and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere in the lounge.
Music sessions continue to be an important part of life at Silver Oaks, bringing people together and creating an enjoyable social activity for everyone involved.

Alongside these highlights, daily life at Silver Oaks has continued with a range of activities including music sessions, gardening club, games, and arts and crafts. These regular sessions provide structure to the week while allowing residents to take part in ways that suit them.

At Silver Oaks, we understand that our boutique, care home is our residents’ home too and we make every effort to ensure your loved ones are looked after and made to feel at home.
This is especially important during the winter season, when the temperature drops and the environment outside gets a lot harsher.
There are a lot of different types of care available, and even more kinds of care homes, all specialising in varied aspects of responsibilities and attention.
One type of care home that can be hugely beneficial to residents is the boutique care home. different from other care homes, like nursing and residential, simply because it’s smaller and provides a more personalised environment.
