A Month of Festive Fun! December at Silver Oaks.

We hope you’re enjoying our new blog series! We love sharing updates and moments from Silver Oaks with you. As we wrap up 2024, we’re excited to continue bringing you more news, stories, and glimpses into life at our home throughout 2025. Thank you for joining us on this journey!

A Local Story That Touched Many Hearts

We’re thrilled to share that our story about Kath’s heartfelt journey to find her mother’s grave has been picked up by the Coalville Times! This touching story resonated deeply with many, demonstrating the power of connection and perseverance. If you missed it, we originally shared Kath’s experience in a blog last month, and it’s wonderful to see her story reaching an even wider audience through the newspaper. Kath’s journey has been an inspiration to all of us, reminding us of the importance of family, memories, and the stories that bring us together.

Festive Fun with Saxophone Sam

We had the pleasure of welcoming Saxophone Sam again this month, who brought a lively and festive atmosphere to Silver Oaks with his saxophone and a repertoire of holiday-themed songs. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance, joining in for a cheerful sing-along and adding rhythm to the music with percussion instruments. The combination of Sam’s talent and the residents’ enthusiasm filled the room with laughter and holiday spirit!

A Creative Morning with Art Therapy

This month, our residents enjoyed a delightful Art Therapy session with a visiting art therapist. The session introduced us to the traditional technique of Indian block printing, where intricate wooden blocks are used to create beautiful patterns on fabric. Each resident had the chance to decorate their own fabric bag, filling it with fragrant, scented packing to create a unique and sensory keepsake. The activity was not only a wonderful way to explore creativity but also a calming experience for everyone involved.

A Festive Celebration

Our Christmas Party was a joyous occasion, held just across the road at the "Conny Club" on Tuesday, 17th December. The afternoon began with our much-loved tradition of two lively games of prize bingo, which brought out plenty of smiles and friendly competition. Following the bingo, our talented singer took the stage, filling the room with festive tunes and cheer. A delicious buffet was enjoyed by all, accompanied by tea and coffee (on us!), while others took advantage of the bar for a celebratory drink. To top off the event, we held an exciting raffle with fantastic prizes. It was an uplifting afternoon full of laughter, music, and festive spirit—truly a highlight of the month!

Ending the Year on a High Note

December has brought us so much joy, and we’re thrilled to close the year with a wonderful achievement! Jo and the team at Silver Oaks have received three glowing 5-star reviews on Carehome.co.uk.

This recognition is a testament to the dedication and care our team provides every day. We couldn’t be prouder - what a fantastic way to end the year!
