Kath Turned 102!!
We recently had the joy of celebrating Kath's incredible 102nd birthday at Silver Oaks, a milestone that reflects her vibrant spirit and remarkable life. The day was filled with warmth and happiness as Kath spent quality time with two dear friends and enjoyed a captivating performance by the Memory Lane Duo, making the occasion a truly happy one.
This month has been particularly meaningful for Kath, as she also embarked on a deeply personal journey to visit her mother’s grave—a significant experience that brought closure and connection to her past. Trip to Leicester Museum & Art Gallery
Residents had a wonderful outing to the Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, exploring fascinating exhibits like dinosaurs, Ancient Egypt, and Picasso ceramics. The visit offered a journey through art and history, leaving everyone captivated by the incredible exhibits.
Flower Arranging Session
Our residents had a delightful time during a flower arranging session this month. They created stunning bouquets using vibrant blooms and lush greenery. The room was filled with the fragrance of fresh flowers and the joy of hands-on creativity. The finished arrangements brightened up our shared spaces, showcasing the residents' wonderful talent for flower arranging.
Painting Session
A recent painting session brought out the inner artist in everyone! Using a mix of brushes, colors, and canvases, residents explored their imagination and created beautiful works of art. Whether inspired by nature, memories, or abstract, each piece was a unique testament to their artistic flair.
Halloween Pumpkin Creations
Our residents got crafty making pumpkins for Halloween decorations! The activity was filled with laughter, glue, and impressive cutting skills, as everyone showed off their creative flair. The pumpkins brought a festive touch to our communal spaces, thanks to their hard work.
Remembrance Sunday Parade
We were honored to participate in the local Remembrance Sunday parade. Starting outside Silver Oaks, the parade brought the village together to pay respects. Residents then attended the poignant service at St. John Baptist Church at 1:30 pm, reflecting on the sacrifices made by so many.
Lavender Bag Making
A peaceful morning was spent making fragrant lavender bags for the resident’s wardrobes. This sensory activity was a delight, with residents enjoying the calming scent of lavender while creating beautiful sachets to use or gift to loved ones.
A Hedgehog Home for the Garden
One of our talented residents designed and built a charming wooden hedgehog house, now proudly placed in our garden. We’re all eagerly awaiting our spiky visitors to make it their cozy winter retreat!
Looking Ahead
As we move into December, we have some fantastic events lined up! Residents will experience cutting-edge Virtual Reality activities and share joy with the Scouts and Beavers in a Christmas gift exchange, complete with tree decorating and handmade cards. Our art therapy session will explore traditional Indian block printing, and we’ll end the month with an afternoon of soulful music as Sax Music by Sam fills Silver Oaks with melody.

At Silver Oaks, we understand that our boutique, care home is our residents’ home too and we make every effort to ensure your loved ones are looked after and made to feel at home.
This is especially important during the winter season, when the temperature drops and the environment outside gets a lot harsher.
There are a lot of different types of care available, and even more kinds of care homes, all specialising in varied aspects of responsibilities and attention.
One type of care home that can be hugely beneficial to residents is the boutique care home. different from other care homes, like nursing and residential, simply because it’s smaller and provides a more personalised environment. Everyone is welcome to join us in our beautiful garden on Saturday 4th August. There will be live entertainment, including a theatre production, local craft stalls, games, hot food, raffle, tombola, drinks and delicious homemade cakes. We will be collecting for a chosen charity TBC.
