February has been a very busy month filled with celebrations, music, and fun moments for our residents at Silver Oaks!
We started the month by celebrating a special birthday with cake, decorations, and plenty of warm wishes. Chinese New Year brought a splash of color and culture to our home, with themed decorations and a delicious lunch to mark the occasion.
Valentine's Day was another highlight!
Both dining rooms were beautifully decorated, and residents enjoyed a lovely meal, complete with a special gift of a selection of chocolates. We also crafted heartfelt Valentine’s wishes to share with friends and loved ones. The day continued with a fun Valentine’s quiz, and we wrapped up the celebrations with tea and cake.
Music has played a big part in our February activities.
Residents were treated to wonderful performances, including Alex on the violin, Sam on the saxophone, Karl’s songs, the Memory Lane Duo, Hazel on the accordion, and Howard with his guitar. The joy of live music truly brightened our days!
We’ve also introduced a coffee afternoon, where residents can relax with specialty teas and coffees, enjoy delicious cakes, and listen to soothing French café music. It’s quickly become a favourite!
Our regular activities remain as popular as ever with weekly seated exercise classes, Midweek Movie screenings, and Friday Bingo continue to bring plenty of enjoyment.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to launch a monthly Saturday coffee afternoon, where family and friends are warmly invited to join us. We believe these gatherings will provide a wonderful opportunity for loved ones to spend quality time together, connect with staff, and even share experiences with other families who may be new to care home life.
A huge thank you to everyone who supports us! If you have any questions or suggestions about activities, please don’t hesitate to speak with Kevin.

Here’s a glimpse into the exciting events we’ve enjoyed recently and a preview of what’s to come this festive season.
At Silver Oaks, we believe in making dreams come true, no matter how big or small. For our cherished resident, Kath, one heartfelt wish had lingered in her heart for decades: to locate her mother’s grave. What began as a distant hope turned into a heartwarming journey of discovery, perseverance, and community.
Whether you’re choosing a care home for yourself, or you’re a relative wanting to help your loved one find the perfect place, there are a lot of factors to consider.
You want to find the best possible care home for you or your loved one to reside in, so here’s what you should be looking for when searching for a good care home...
A day in life of a carer at Silver Oaks is never easy but is always rewarding. Our carers put our residents’ health and happiness at the forefront of their working day. Two days working at our boutique care home are never the same.
We spoke to our carers about what their life is like working at Silver Oaks, and what their day looks like from the minute they begin, to the second they finish up for the night.
At Silver Oaks, we understand that our boutique, care home is our residents’ home too and we make every effort to ensure your loved ones are looked after and made to feel at home.
This is especially important during the winter season, when the temperature drops and the environment outside gets a lot harsher.
There are a lot of different types of care available, and even more kinds of care homes, all specialising in varied aspects of responsibilities and attention.
One type of care home that can be hugely beneficial to residents is the boutique care home. different from other care homes, like nursing and residential, simply because it’s smaller and provides a more personalised environment. But why should you consider a boutique care home for your loved one and what benefits do they have over the other types of care available.
Everyone is welcome to join us in our beautiful garden on Saturday 4th August. There will be live entertainment, including a theatre production, local craft stalls, games, hot food, raffle, tombola, drinks and delicious homemade cakes. We will be collecting for a chosen charity TBC.
